Today is Sidra's first day in his new kindergarten. The backpack, little bag for inside shoes, coat, and hat are provided by the school. We've bought him canvas inside shoes from a shoe store nearby and some colourful eating utensils from Ikea. Every single things, down to his toothbrush, has to be labelled with his name and class. So I learnt how to write his name and class in Japanese.
To my surprise, he didn't shed a single tear when I left him in school this morning. Just a little clutch on my sleeves, a bit of sweet talk from the teacher (in Japanese, which neither of us could understand anyway), and off he went to play with other kids. I thought I almost burst out with pride.
I walked home by myself, and suddenly realized that it was the first time I walked alone in Japan.

 | Touching, touching, touching. But first, congrats Sidra. To me, you look like sweet little Charlie Chaplin or Errol Flynn. Eating utensils from Ikea? Wow, that's popular Swedish modern furniture maker. Every single Sidra's thing bears his name and class? Wow, how orderly.
As Oma said, a child matures with time. Look, now Sidra stops demanding parents company in school. What a few months can make a difference. Don't forget, may be it is because the influence of his Japanese teachers. You are damned right to be proud of Sidra, Novi.
Opa's tip: Sidra must immitate or mimyc the intonation and choice of words from Japanese males. Otherwise he sounds sissy and too sweet.
Opa. |
